I’m quite happy to say that Twitter SaiGon 1st gathering this morning was not too bad. In fact, thank to our dearing friends, especially Taitran and Kevin (Trung Nguyen cafe is a nice place for meeting-up, isn’t it?), we did have great time together.
There were 14 confirmed guests on Facebook but not all of them showing up. On the contrary, we have some speacial guests who didn’t even need a FB or Twitter to be there. Make a guess who are they
1. Nguyen Thanh Quang, Managing Partner, Vina Consulting. A nice surprise
2. Kevin Miller, Senior Technical Consultant at the same company as Mr. Quang. His humor made our meeting much easier.
3. Huy Zing. Oops, anyone please tell me more about that handsome guy?
4. Kevin An, I guess. He left so early without saying anything. What happened to you, An?
5. Le Ngoc Quoc Khanh (Khanhlnq -Step 2 Radar): Co-founder and admin of JavaVietnam.org. His Java knowledge is so admirable. I don’t know why but he was so quite this morning.
6. Thomas Wanhoff, New Media Consultant. He lives a great life of a freelancer, and his business cards are so cool. He told me that he can cook. I really wanna try.
7. Vo Viet Anh. He knows nothing about Twitter, but he’s still my friend. He now studies in Japan. An exellent guitarist and a lovely guy
8. Hmm, it’s me.
9. Noah Klinger, my English teacher. He was sick of Internet this morning =.= And I’m sure he must be very disappointed about my really bad speaking.
10. Anh Hùng, FTU student. His E-learning Platform is great.
11. Nguyen Khoa Hong Thanh, Manager at Scorp, a PR company. May you help us with promotion for BarCamp?
12. Ngo Tran Vu, Marketing Manager of Kaspersky Vietnam. Another quiet guy. Why are Vietnamese guys always shy =.=
13. Trần Tuấn Tài (TaiTran). His English is perfect, isn’t it?
14. An Idian guy, I can’t spell his name. Help me please
There are some more people supposed to show up but they weren’t there. Tran Ngoc Thai Son (SonnyMotives) shoule be the first one to complain about his unluck. He was there as he told, but it was too crowded and he couldn’t find a place for parking. Why didn’t you call us, Mr. Son? Timen and Do Quang Tu missed the meeting just b/c of oversleeping. No excuse, no mercy, hmm. Hope to see you guys at the next event.
Now let’s have a look at what was going on this morning. After a brief introduction (we have this at every meeting, right?), we have a presentation of Anh Hung about his E-learning Platform - a project he collaborates with a friend in the US. It’s a big project, and there were many questions about Ubuntu and Windows. If anyone’s interested in this project, please contact Anh Hùng.
The next topic is about Barcamp in SaiGon this November. There are many things to do. But I do concern about license. Vietnamese policy takes us at least 3 months for everything to be approved
Ok it’s too long now. I have to go to bed. Do you think we should see each other more often? How about once a month?

Huy is working on Facebook applications here in Saigon.
Tony (Indian guy) is the IT Director from GHP Far East, a BPO in QTSC and a Novell partner.
Meeting was fun. Do not worry about the licenses, the host universities can take care of it.
Hey it was a pleasure to meet you! Hope to see you all again very soon. I think its makes things easier if people meet face to face. Once in a month is a perfect suggestion! But anyway if some people wanna meet mor ofte we can do this beside the regular monthly meeting (especially for the barcamp organisation we need to).
Hi Chip, sorry for not making it. What licenses are you talking about? You need a license to meet up like you guys did yesterday!? Or need one for a conference like BarCamp? Let me know, I know someone who knows a lot about event stuff. (email me please)
Hi Chip,
Thanks for your kind minute. I’ll be writing a follow-up review myself. Looking forward to the next opportunity to catch up.
Regards - Tai
Hi Chip,
Thanks for the nice sum up. I usually listen while others speak. But believe me, I will talk a lot on mobile and GIS topics
@Kevin: Thanks a lot. Then where’s Huy from? Are you sure universities can take care of it? I asked some universities I know and all they told me was: a license first =.= Event if they can take care of licenses, it took them less than 3 months. Ok, maybe I was too pessimistic.
@Thomas: Then let’s choose a schedule
@Timen: OmG, why do you think that we need a license for meeting like Twitter offline yesterday? Vietnamese policy is not that bad
I emailed you
Thanks a lot.
not a good english post
@Taitran: I’m waiting for your report.
@Khanhlnq: Ok, I hope that next time the topic will be something like that
@a guess: I know, my English is not so good. And there are some mistakes, I usually mistype “quite” and “quiet”.
@Chip: As far as I know, several universities know how to do the licenses. BarCamp and Google Hackathon are high profile events so universities would gain significantly from this. I think it may have to be left with RMIT or Univ. of Technologies.
By the way, your English is very good. You should be happy about it. Be confident
Không biết các bác đang nói gì mà em không hiểu gì
Hi@. Very sorry because I wasn’t there. I guess everybody enjoying this gathering.
Thanks for the summary Chip. It comes in handy when I dont have to repeat the whole things to people who didn’t attend the offline.
I think we should meet at least once a month because there’s so much that comes out from this
Btw, you’re English is good, much better than other peers, so keep up the good work ^ ^

Nhưng chỉ là tình cờ mà Chip viết về GG thôi.
@Lyminhtriet: No, not my teacher. He was sick of Internet. You’d better show up next time and I hope you will enjoy it too
@Anh Hung: Thanks Hùng, hope to see ya more often.
@Nguyễn Hùng: Google thì ai chẳng yêu
@Nam Phương: @_@
